Dandelion
Description:
The dandelion has long been considered a weed instead
of an herb. This is not true, the dandelion offers healing
properties many just do not consider.
The dandelion grows very well in zones 3-10 as any
yard owner can tell you. Any type of soil will work for
the dandelion.
How to Grow Dandelions:
While dandelions really do not need to be planted
in yards or gardens as in most places they just spring up in
your lawn whether you want them or not I thought I would include
some basicinformation just in case you cannot grow them in your
yard and want to use them for healing.
The best way to grow dandelions is from seed from
a large leafed variety, all you have to do is find someone who
has tons of dandeions in their yard and ask them for a few...trust
me you will get a weird look but hey let them look you know
the true value of a dandelion.
To be sure that your dandelions are pesticide free
though it is best to purchase the seed from a specialist seed
catalogue. Be sure to sow shallowly in early spring.
Pest and Disease Prevention:
Usually free of pests and diseases. Hence
why so many yard owners get so frustrated with dandelions in
their yards or gardens. :)
