Oregano

Description:
Oregano grows well in zones 5-10 in full sun to
light shade in well-drained average garden soil.
Oregano needs a pH of 6.0-7.0.
You can use oregano as a border in your herb garden,
it produces nice small leaves and minature blossoms.
Many times oregano and marjoram can be confused
as they are very very similar to each other in smell and in
likeness.
How to Grow Oregano:
Oregano can be started as a seed in a container
or in your garden, but you can also purchase an established
plant at any greenhouse.
Be sure if you are planting seeds outdoors you do
it after all danger of frost is gone. Oregano is a slow
grower I do suggest you start the first year with a plant that
you purchased from a greenhouse.
Be sure to prune and thin plants in the spring and
plant them about a foot apart to give them room to grow and
have good air circulation.
Mulch the area each spring to help fight off weeds.
One neat fact heat will increase the oil production
of this plant.
You will need to replace older plants every few
years, so each year add one or two new plants and keep a journal
so you know when you started growing each oregano plant.
Pest and Disease Prevention:
Usually free of pests and diseases.
