Description:

Roses grow well in zones 3-10 and warmer.  Roses need to be planted in full sun and be protected from wind.

Roses many people do not realize have medicinal uses and are used to make perfumes.

There are many different variations of colors in the rose family.

How to Grow Roses:

You can grow roses from seeds in the autumn months by hardwood cuttings or by budding in the summer.

For best results purchase an already established rose bush from your local greenhouse.

You need to mulch roses and be sure they are not in standing water or in an area where they can be damaged by strong winds.

To tame rose bushes that grow big it is a good idea to use a tralise to tame them and use the tralise to guide the bush where you want it to grow.

Right before the winter months start be sure to prune back.

Pest and Disease Prevention:

Roses are prone to blackspot, rust, mildew and aphids.  Deadhead regularly to remove possible diseased spots.
