Beginning on November 23, Castle Baths will include a free Dead Sea Mud Bar with every order over $25.00. This sale will continue until midnight on November 26, the day commonly referred to as Cyber Monday.
“The larger your order, the larger a mud bar you will receive,” said Castle Baths owner Laura Thomas. “Small orders near the minimum purchase amount required will receive one of our Dead Sea Mud Flower Soaps, which we typically save for inclusion in our spa gift baskets. Larger orders will receive chunks of our actual retail Dead Sea Black Mineral Mud Bar, and the largest orders will receive a full-size Dead Sea Black Mineral Mud Bar.”
According to Thomas, Dead Sea Mud has numerous skin care benefits, including the ability to cleanse the deep layers of skin where ordinary facial soaps cannot reach. Dead Sea Mud also is reputed to help skin feel tighter and smoother for a more youthful appearance.
“It’s a great alternative to using a mud mask,” Thomas said. “Especially during the winter when the use of a mud mask can really dry out your skin.”
As to which Castle Baths products would qualify for this discount, Thomas suggests customers browse the spa gift baskets on the Castle Baths website. Several new baskets have been added, including the Holiday Gift Basket, Lavender Lovers Gift Basket, and the customizable Slice of Life Gift Basket.

Are you tired of all your soaps coming in a standard rectangle that can easily slip out of your hand during a bath or shower? If so, you may be interested to know that Castle Baths has begun transitioning its Classic line natural soaps to unique, decorative flower molds. We currently have three patterned soaps available for purchase. They are the Bathsheba Rose Soap, the Prayer Sunflower Soap, and the Passion Daisy Soap.
Each of these new soap forms is designed to fit comfortably in your hand, and hopefully will reduce the likelihood of slips while in use.
Eventually, Castle Baths will transition its four remaining Classic scents, Sweet Communion, Sweet Dreams, Restoration, and Jubilee, to decorative shapes as well, though the shape each will take is not definitive yet.
Though the shape of our soaps is in transition, our scents are and always shall remain the same. Our Bathsheba Rose Soap is still made with the essential oil of Rosewood and pure rose absolute. Likewise, our Prayer and Passion patterned soaps still contain their original scents.
The Bathsheba aromatherapy blend is designed to inspire a romantic mood. Prayer is intended to help people reach a meditative, reflective state of mind, and Passion is said to have an aphrodisiac effect on mood, bringing out feelings of confidence and sexuality.

Last week, we listed some common technical skin-care terms cosmetic companies like to use to describe their products, and then provided some information on what each of those terms actually means in plain, simple English. Today, we have five more to share with you, so that you can make informed decisions about your cosmetics usage based on their ingredients and listed uses.
Antioxidant – Antioxidants are natural compounds that help eliminate oxides or free radicals from your skin. Oxides and free radicals are unstable molecules that can accelerate the aging process and potentially cause cancer. Shockingly, many of the mass-produced cosmetics you see for sale at your local drug store or department store contain numerous ingredients ending in –oxide, which means, in the long term, many of them will do more harm than good. If you see ingredients ending in -oxide, that product should probably be avoided. To infuse your skin with antioxidants, try looking for products made from organic green tea such as Castle Baths’ Green Tea Body Butter or Avocado Eyes Anti-Aging Eye Cream.
Essential Oil vs. Fragrance – Essential oils are 100% organic scents created from plants. Many have documented aromatherapy benefits such as relaxation or energizing, and some even have aphrodisiac-like effects. Fragrances, on the other hand, are simply scents with no aromatherapy benefits. They are synthetic and contain potentially harmful chemicals. Many who suffer from headaches caused by fragrance oils in thier products do not associate their fragrance-based commercial cosmetics with the source of their headaches. The only up-side to fragrances is that they last longer and are substantially cheaper than essential oils.
Cellulite – Cellulite refers to the appearance of fatty, bulging skin, usually around the thighs. It can also appear in the abdominal area or around the neck. Skin care products that are listed as being astringent (skin-tightening) can be an effective temporary solution for reducing the appearance of cellulite deposits. Cellulite is not at present considered an official medical term. Some products that are helpful in reducing the appearance of cellulite include Castle Baths’ Green Tea Body Butter and Cellu Coffee Bar Spa Soap.
Eczema – Eczema is a skin condition whereby skin becomes red and itchy. Skin may crack and in extreme cases, a rash may form. Eczema can sometimes occur during wintertime, when colder temperatures tend to dry out skin. Oil-based lotions and/or body butters such as Castle Baths’ Lavender Body Butter or Bathsheba Body Lotion Mist can be very effective in soothing and re-hydrating the itchy, red, cracked signs of eczema.
Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids – Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids (AHAs) are compounds most commonly found in products containing citrus fruit, which can help stimulate and maintain your skin’s collagen levels. Collagen is the main protein responsible for keeping skin smooth and youthful. As we age, hormonal changes decrease skin’s ability to produce collagen. To take advantage of AHA’s anti-aging benefits, cosmetic products containing them should have a concentration between 8 and 15% such as Castle Baths’ Bless Me Cream.
This is by no means a complete overview of skin care terms, and depending on your health and beauty goals, you may want to conduct additional research. Battling wrinkles is one of the biggest dilemmas for most women these days. We will pay for laser treatments, lavish spa treatments, and expensive creams all for the promise of renewed youth. While our faces may come out looking renewed and refreshed, what about our necks? Most of us forget about the neck, which is just as important as the face when it comes to anti-aging.
The skin on the neck is much thinner with a lot less elasticity than the skin on the rest of the body. Necks also have way fewer sebaceous glands and lipids, which are key in preventing aging. Over time collagen and elastin productivity also decreases in skin, and can cause the dreaded double chin effect. Thankfully, when neck exercises are performed regularly, this can go away completely over time. Other factors that contribute to wrinkles in the neck are smoking, poor skin care routine, dehydration, and bad diet. However, I am going to give you some remedies that you can use at home in your spare time.
First, you need to cleanse. Always ensuring a proper cleansing is very effective in battling wrinkles because you need to rid the skin of all pollutants and impurities.
Second, you want to exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Exfoliating is key in battling wrinkles, by getting rid of dead skin cells and it helping the skin turnover process in generating new skin cells.
Third, you always have to tone. A natural toner that is good in fighting wrinkles is Green Tea. Green Tea is loaded with antioxidants to fight wrinkles. The goal to fighting wrinkles is replacing everything that came out of your skin.
Fourth, make sure you moisturize. Shea Butter is an excellent anti-aging moisturizer. To optimize your results, add a bit of Hazelnut Oil to your moisturizer. Hazelnut Oil has tightening properties. If you have nut allergies, try a test patch on your skin first. Don’t be afraid to use your wrinkle cream on your neck, also inexpensive creams are just as effective as expensive creams, such as our Tre’Yours Hazelnut Anti-Wrinkle Neck and Chest Cream!
Determining the right sleep position also determines if you will get wrinkles on your neck. Try to sleep on your back and make sure you have good posture, in doing so you will decrease your chances of getting wrinkles. Make sure to take the time to massage your neck and I can’t stress enough how important it is to do your neck exercises.

As many of you know, Castle Baths is based out of Virginia. Recently, an earthquake broke through unfamiliar territory. It was the first in Virginia since the 1800’s and most Virginians had never experienced an earthquake before. “The room just started to shake,” Laura Dilley Thomas recalls, “I was in the middle of a business call and thought aloud that I thought I just felt an earthquake. The guy on the other end must have thought I was a little nutty!”
In the other room, Hand and Body Lotion was brewing. At first, she didn’t think of it. All she could feel was the chair rocking. All she could see was the decorative plane flying in circles. “I had never experienced that before in my life, I was taken away be the shakiness of the ordeal,” She stated, “Once it smoothed over, I went to check on the lotion I was making.
