How Castle Baths researches its products. . .

 

We believe in cruelty free!

Did you know that cosmetic companies test on animals, skin grown in vials and on skin donated from plastic surgery patients? I believe this type of testing can lead to short-term, but not long-term results. And I believe testing on animals in inhumane! Since we continue to age long term, we need to test on live skin under the environmental conditions that actually surround us.

I try out every new Castle Baths product on myself first. Once something passes my test, I offer it to family and friends living in various climates. Using their feedback, I continue the testing process until I come up with a product that meets the purpose for which it's designed. Even then, I personally continue to test to see if there is any way I can make the product even better. We tweak and tweak towards perfection.

Research and understanding ingredient properties and the skin is key! My continued education in these fields will allow our products to continue to improve as they help improve you.

 

How Castle Baths Dead Sea salt soaks help the skin. . .

The skin is the body's largest organ. It's a magnificent, multipurpose organ, but it's also complex. More has been discovered about the skin and its functions in the last ten years than in the previous two hundred years.

 

Until very recently, it was generally believed that products didn't penetrate the skin. Today, we know that sweat and oil glands provide a route of entry into the skin. Dirt and impurities clog sweat pores. Excessive secretion by oil glands results in acne; too little results in dry skin. Based on this knowledge, scientists have been developing techniques to reach the target area within the layers of the skin to maximize the benefits of skin-care products. This increased knowledge allows us to see how Dead Sea salts affect the skin and the benefits of using them.

 

Dead Sea salts remove impurities from the pores while pouring minerals back into the entry target site. Many soaks-for example our Restoration Soak- do even more than cleanse and nourish the skin. Adding aromatherapy to the bath water has multiple benefits, from alleviating a headache to releasing stress to soothing muscular aches.

What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils extracted from plants for their wonderful properties. In the belief that aromatherapy is all about the aroma, many people misuse the word. But aromatherapy is not about sniffing aromas to feel relaxed. The chemicals in the makeup of plant essences have unique beneficial properties, either alone or in combination with others, that are absorbed by the body and via entering the nasal. When you bathe in water containingOrganic and Wild Crafted Essential Oils, you inhale the essence through the nose, then absorb it through the lungs. The skin also absorbs it while you are soaking, which means that some baths have to be a little bit longer to achieve the desired goal. This is not an instant pill- it is a mode of realizing your surroundings and allowing the aroma essence to work with your soul, brain, and body.

 

Why Essential Oils, but not fragrance oils?

Derived from natural plants, Essentials Oils are known for their therapeutic values. Fragrant oils, on the other hand, are man-made and have no therapeutic value. Inhaling fragrance oils can actually do more harm than good, as many cause skin sensitivities and headaches. Fragrance oils should never be used in aromatherapy.

 

What about stronger scents?

Essential Oil products made too strong will give you a headache or even possibly work different than intended. For example- lavender is for relaxing but too much can actually briefly send a wake up single instead. Therefore, each Castle Baths blend is made only as strong as is consistent with keeping the aroma, and purpose good while preventing issues and headaches. If you find the scent of your bath too strong, simply use a little less of the aromatherapy product the next time. If you find it's too weak- add a tad more:-)

 

Are your Essential Oils really pure?

Yes! We use only the top-of-the-line oils, top therapeutic grades, unaltered and organic or wild crafted.

 

How fresh are your products?

We make new batches daily, so you can expect the freshest of fresh when your products arrive.

 

Why do you use goat's milk in some of your soaps?

Goat's milk is a natural emollient that is high in protein and triglyceride content and contains vitamin A, B6, B12, E, and beta-casein. These properties make it an excellent natural moisturizer that helps hydrate and nourish dry skin. We do not use canned or dry goats milk powder- we use fresh organic goats milk.

 

Are any products Vegan?

 

All of our spa and bath products, with the exception of 3 bars of soap- are 100% vegan!

 

Why do you use Dead Sea salt?

Dead Sea bath salts make for the ultimate in luxurious bathing. Famous for their wonderful and well-known properties, Dead Sea salts have a higher mineral content than ordinary salts and contain valuable trace minerals that soften bath water and gently cleanse the skin. Their therapeutic powers help relieve aches and pains, prevent stiffness after exercising, and relax the muscles. Our Dead Sea salts are combined with pure organicOrganic and Wild Crafted Essential Oils for natural aromatherapy effects.

 

Do you test?

Every recipe has been thoroughly tested by Castle Baths owner, Laura Thomas. Some days she becomes waterlogged from the soaks-but she loves every minute of it! None of our recipes are ever tested on animals or on test tube skin samples. We are 100 percent animal and human friendly.

 

Why do you ship your product with recycled newspaper sometimes?

 

We are an eco friendly business and we strongly believe in recycle, refurbish and reuse- to help our planet. We also use peanuts- when our suppliers send them to us- we reuse and pack and send them back out to you:-) Read more about Castle Baths Green Efforts on our about page. You'll also notice- we do not send packaging slips- again- less paper out is less trees harmed!

How Castle Baths skin line was born. . . by Laura Thomas

After a decade of breeding and showing Persian cats, I began to notice how horrible my hands were starting to look. At first I thought, I have my mother's hands. But when people begin to ask me what was the matter with my hands, I realized that ten years of bathing my kitties using commercial products full of unhealthy chemicals had taken their toll. My hands looked twice as old as the rest of me!

It was too late to start wearing gloves, so I went on a quest to repair them. I immersed myself in books, articles, and every skin dictionary I could find. I researched skin care as if I was studying to become a dermatologist. That's when I concluded that Castle Baths needed a skin line in addition to a bath line. My main question as I developed our skin line was how I wanted to benefit from the products.

First, I wanted to know what would make my skin look younger and more vibrant without piling on more products and taking lots of time. I've never been a huge fan of makeup. I wear very little and have never worn foundation. I always felt too much makeup aged a person faster than life itself did. I still believe this is completely true. But once I hit my forties and the fine lines began appearing, I became more aware of my age, and this bothered me.

What I came up with was a Beauty Bar, a soap, face cleaner, exfoliate, toner, and moisturizer, all in one.

 

Today this beauty bar is called Tre'Yours Daily Renewal Bar- found in our Spa Soap area on the site. With this product, there's no need to clean, tone, moisture, exfoliate once or twice a week, and apply night cream before bed, if your not working on anti-aging.

 

Instead, simply wash your face with this wonderful beauty Spa Soap bar as you are preparing for your day. After just one use, you should notice a difference. I know I did! I use it to wash my entire body, it makes me soft all over. Now keep in mind- it has very little if any lather- that is because it is 100% detergent free and no coconut oil- coconut oil adds lather to natural soap- but it can also be drying to the skin and we wanted no drying of the skin when this bar was designed!

 

Our Tre'Yours Mud bar is equally as nice!

Tre'Yours Daily Renewal Bar was only part of my solution. My face was in its mid-forties, but my hands were in their sixties! I was determined that my hands wouldn't tell people that I was older than what my face said. So I sat down and wrote out everything my hands needed and set out to develop a product that would meet those needs. That's when the Tre'Yours Daily Renewal Face Cream was developed. Today- I use that on the top sides of my hands- where I need moisture the most!

In addition, I use only CB products for my skin, and I now shampoo my cats only in CB's all-natural gentle Anna Designer Line. My hands now show definite signs of smoothness and have regained some of the youth those chemicals stole from my skin over the years.

And that's how Castle Baths Spa Products skin line was born!
