Organic Coconut Oil- your pet's new best friend!
by: Laura Thomas
What to do with mats???
Try a little virgin coconut oil on your comb
and work it through gently, starting from the outer point
of the knot. Work your comb into the knot, piece by piece,
working your way towards the skin, layer by layer. Do not
start unknotting the mat at the skin or by removing the mat-
you leave a bald patch.
BTW- using the same coconut oil in place of
a conditioner will help fix a dry coat. Nothing works as bright
and nice as adding a little virgin coconut oil to the bath's
final rinse. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse, rinse,
rinse! <hint> do not try this on a show bath- in case
you need to allow the dry coat to absorb some of the oil which
you may or may not wish to remove from the coat.
This works great for both dogs and cats. Oh,
and a tad of the organic virgin coconut oil in their food-
can makes ahealthy happy baby too:-)
TIP: Catnip Spray
Dilute Essential Oil of Catnip with water-
shake and spray on beds and toys and watch the kitties go
nuts. Well, most of them will. Catnip tends to work more
so on some cats and even more so on adult males.
Recipe: 10 drops catnip spray to 10 oz of
water. You can make this as strong as 1 oz of oil to 12
oz of water...so play with this and see what scent drives
your kitty nuts:-)
Did you know catnip spray soothes a tummy
ache for a human and makes a cat in season speak up a little
louder.
At Castle Baths, we like to grow it fresh
and during the summer- pack pillows with the fresh leaves
and flowers for the cats. They have blast!
